They'll pass you up [02 May 2009|12:42am]

Hello music fans and friends alike, just thought I'd drop in for a few moments to let you all know. Green Day is releasing a new album on May 15th, titled 21st Century Breakdown. Below is a widget where you can check out the new single, Know Your Enemy, and follow what the band has going on right now.

Taking Action [18 Jan 2009|04:56pm]

So I live in Florida and I found out that Bestiality (sexual intercourse between an animal and a human) is legal in Florida. I was and am appalled by that. So I started a petition urging the Florida legislative to make Bestiality illegal here in Florida.
So youth please visit the following link and sign my petition.

The Hostel - Movement [25 Dec 2008|03:05am]

A weird and very optimistic russian rock-group The Hostel has published a new single «Movement». It is dedicated to war. War is a content of the life – that’s the point. These three songs were written mostly in 2007, but the idea of putting them together in Internet-single came in the days of war in Osetia.

In the single you’ll find the influences of psycho-folk and garage music, of post-rock and the new weird America. Three songs, 8 minutes of sound, that express greatly the tragic and destructive sense of our today world. The faith in God, the hope of something salvational in future.

Long time fan of the band, new member on here. :-p [30 Jul 2008|06:57pm]

[ mood | good ]

When I was a 6th grader (fall of '96 I think, to be more specific) I first "Come Out and Play" on the radio. This band became one of my favorite bands of all time ever since. Later on I got the Americana record, my first of them all. Then Smash later on, then Ixnay and so on. :)

Yup, I got all their records (and yeah their Greatest Hits CD in which is seperate from that). I have most of their DVDs too (all but the Americana one). The other day I got Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace! They've definitely reverted back to their older music a bit on this one, along with trying out some more new things. It's very good.

I really love the songs "Hammerhead", "Trust in You", "Stuff is Messed Up", "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" and "A Lot Like Me" as favorites. Stuff is Messed Up, WOW. Seriously, Dexter surprised me with the bridge on that song. And A Lot Like Me is IMO one of their best of the slower songs.

What about the rest of you towards the new record that came out last month? You like it? Hate it? ^_^ What about the Hammerhead video? I think that's cool. The dogs remind me of the Terminator movies, coooool. XD

So right now I'm ripping all the Offspring CDs onto my Windows Media Library, and have been in an Offspring nostalgia ever since I got Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. I've been going over to the Offspring.com webpage again and going back to some of the most awesome fansites.

For me it's hard to say what's my most favorite Offspring CD or song, because I like all their stuff a lot, and I have more than a handful of favorite songs.

Y'know, I was born in 1984, and that's how long The Offspring's been rocking on. They STILL know how to rock! ...Oh, and I've yet to see them live one day (that is if I have someone to go with).

the youth energy from Russia [13 Jun 2008|03:17am]

...the first name of the group was The Wood. That's important. The Hostel is some kind of union of people, animals, trees and different objects. The group also shares a post-rock concept of depersonalising of music so pesonalised in rock-n-roll times, so that on the box of the first album of The Hostel there aren't any names of musicians.

The Hostel follows the idea of 60's psychodelic music, NY downtown avantguard music, industrial music and different ethnic traditions. Texts are written in a visionary and surrealistic style. Sometimes they look like an ancient poem, sometimes like a symbolistic poetry.

Well, The Hostel is surely a peace of postmodernity.

However, as a russian group (The Hostel lives in Moscow), The Hostel consider the disunity, the fragmentation of everything in the art and in the world at all as a big tradegy and perfoms some kind of a rush to the Whole, to the integrity, to the deepest roots of being. You see that philosophy is their cup of tea..

The Hostel was founded in 2004 in a russian city Oryol despite the fact of Moscow's their native city. Nowadays the group is quite famous in Russia and considered as a distinguishing musical phenomena by the most influencial journalists.

Hello Everybody [29 Jul 2006|04:11pm]
I just joined this community today and wanted to let you all in on a great new band I'm helping out. Minutes Too Far are a indie-punk quartet from Bethany Oklahoma, who have been together since 2001 and have self released one EP already. The band completed their first national tour, where they opened for bands like Yellowcard, Slick Shoes and Quiet Riot.

If any of you are into interesting indie-punk music, just follow the banner and check them out...

Hey guys, I thought some of you might be instrested in ringtones from Epitaph bands for your cell phone. I saw an ad for this a few days ago. "It works with most ATT, Cingular, and Tmobile service. Standard text messaging rates apply." All you have to do is send a text message to 73804 with the word "EPITAPH". I got a Time Bomb-Rancid and For Boston-Dropkick Murphys tone! They have a whole bunch of other bands too, you should check it out!

hey [22 Jun 2005|03:56pm]
whoa this is the first update in a long time.....

anyways, I don't know how many people know this, but just today i found out that the offspring's song "baghdad" on rock against bush vol.1(i strongly reccommend you buy this cd) is the same song as "tehran" which is on their first album, except they replaced the word Iran with Iraq and Tehran with Baghdad.

Anyways, congrads to The Offspring on their Greatest Hits release yesterday, I'm still not sure if I should get it or not, considering that I own 3 of their cds, which is most of the songs on there.
I'd also like to congratualte them for being in the Warped Tour for the first time.
I have to go to that....

okay... [04 Aug 2004|07:17pm]

well the offspring is totally my favorite band, and I finally saw them for the first time in may... and wow, they were even better than I expected... I didn't think Dexter would be able to hit the notes in "Self Esteem", and noodles rocked his guitar... higgins was great, too :P
But you know who else is awesome? Sister Hazel! I don't know if you guys know who they are, but they had a couple really big hits, "All For You" and "Change Your Mind"... and they put on the best live shows I've ever seen. Anyway, they're still around, on their own label now, and their newest cd (Lift) is being released on August 24th, along with Drew Copeland's solo album, No Regrets. But all you die hard fans ;) can pre order the albums now and get them by August 18th! If you order either, you can get a second of the same one for just $5 more, and if you order Lift, you get a free limited edition poster with it! Also, their newest single, "Just what I needed" is at radio stations now, so request it so you can hear it! You can also hear a medley of new songs at their website, www.sisterhazel.com. Whoo hoo!
